BDOSN's Project Competition Held on International Women's Day

On the occasion of International Women's Day, "DevMania Project Competition" was organized on online by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) with the participation of female undergraduate students from different parts of Bangladesh. The competition is held on March 8 to ensure women's empowerment in the world of information and technology and to expand women's technological thinking and skills.

This year's International Women's Day is being celebrated around the world with the theme Women in Leadership: An Equal Future in a COVID-19 World. BDOSN has organized this project competition to celebrate the achievements of women in the field of technology in Bangladesh. In this competition, the participants presented various ideas on technical solutions to some of the known problems of Bangladesh. About 66 female students from different universities of Bangladesh took part in the competition. In the first phase of the competition, students came up with their projects in about 30 groups and March 8, the 10 selected teams presented their ideas in online. The winning team of the competition is selected today through a precise evaluation of the judges on the identified problems, the reality of the solution, unique method, the presentation and the use of technology. The second runner-up in the competition was Polarize Team of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), the first runner-up was Team Meena of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and the winning team was selected Team Grid of Islamic University of Technology (IUT). The winning team will be awarded three thousand, five thousand and ten thousand taka respectively as the winning prize of the competition.

Note that the competition was held under BDOSN's three-year ESDG4BD project. The project is aimed at increasing the participation of women in the IT sector in Bangladesh.
